TROPICAL WEDDING INSPIRATION MOOD BOARD

Tropical Wedding inspiration mood board featuring elevated centerpieces, acrylic details, and lots of large tropical leaves!

So you wanna throw a thoroughly modern, possibly black-tie tropical shindig?

Keep it simple

Tropical greenery is already SO extra, you really just need to pick a few leaves you like and repeat, repeat, repeat.

Add a Fun + Modern Textural Element

We chose acrylic and incorporated it in the escort cards, signage, ceremony backdrop, and seating.

Go Big

Tropical leaves lend themselves to large installations, big bouquets, and elevated centerpieces.

Color is Optional

Sure tropical fetes are often super colorful affairs, BUT for a more formal and/or minimal look, stick with green or add a single accent color like we did.

Tabitha Abercrombie of Winston & Main makes some behind the scenes adjustments to groom's boutonniere before shooting for Tropical Wedding Editorial.

And that’s it! Easy peasy. Simple, monochromatic, but never boring!
Bonus points if you dress to match your work! 😉

MODERN TROPICAL WEDDING INSPIRATION AT THE MODERN, LONG BEACH

Cute wedding couple in front of modern tropical wedding arch with acrylic accents

In 2017 I decided to create the work I wanted to be doing.

So I asked my friend Renee of Moxie Bright Events if she’d like to collaborate on a minimal, modern, and elegant re-imagining of the “greenery” trend taking over the interwebs
(all. that. garland.) and she came on board.

The rest is history. And hard work. And talented collaborators. And lots and lots of tropical greenery, with nary a garland in sight! 🙂

Enough rambling though, check out all the modern, minimal + tropical magic we created at The Modern in Long Beach:

A modern tropical tablescape with tall centerpieces, and custom acrylic place cards.

While these elevated centerpieces are black-tie ready, the acrylic escort cards I designed (with calligraphy by Chasing Linen) add a playful element to the table.

We incorporated acrylic details + simple greenery throughout- in this beautiful invitation from Happily Ever Etched

Modern, minimal, and tropical wedding table inspiration.

You’ll also see acrylic details in the table number, and later, the ceremony design.

A tropical bridal bouquet and tiny pineapple boutonniere.

Texture and tiny details FTW.

Acrylic "Find your Seat" Sign with Monstera Leaf.

Tropical wedding desserts- gold leafed donuts.

These donuts from Mwokaji Cakery are almost too pretty to eat. Almost. 😉

And a closer look at those escort cards. I created three different leaf styles, but the mini monsteras are definitely my fave!

Beautiful table top from Borrowed Blu with styling by Renee! Oh! And dip-dyed napkins by yours truly.

Adorable wedding portrait with floral bowtie and tropical boutonniere.

Tall tropical wedding centerpiece.

Minimal, modern, and tropical centerpiece.

So simple, so perfect.

Modern, minimal, tropical wedding ceremony arch with monstera, banana leaves, elephant ear, and ghost chairs.

I still love this ceremony design so much, from the simple gold pipe arch, to the giant tropical leaves, (no floral foam heeeeey) to the always fabulous Ghost Chairs.

Acrylic geometric shapes frame monstera leaves for cool, minimal, tropical ceremony decor by Winston & Main.

A quick close-up of those floating monstera leaves! Acrylic trianges FTW, again.

Delicious tropical wedding desserts.

And a few more delicious sweets!

Real talk: I’ve done at least 3 real weddings as a direct result of this shoot, for which I’m super grateful. So if there’s something you want to start doing (or get paid to do) hurry up and get started! And if you just want to hire me to bring ALL the giant tropical leaves your direction, get in touch right here!

ROMANTIC LIBRARY WEDDING AT CAFE PINOT

Cute wedding couple kissing, while walking with bridal party in DTLA.

Happy Anniversary Elizabeth & Trevor! I can’t believe it’s already been a whole year since we celebrated your wedding day at Cafe Pinot in DTLA!

Beautiful cream & blush bridal bouquet featuring a variety of garden roses.

I loved creating Elizabeth’s bouquet in a neutral cream/blush palette full of fresh local garden roses from Grace Rose Farm. My whole studio smelled delicious!

Fun wedding portraits at Oue Sky Space.

Groom riding slide at Oue Sky Space!

These two were so much fun to work with, and they really took the time to enjoy their wedding day (and ride that giant slide at Oue Sky Space in all their wedding finery.)
Love that!

And talk about #babes- this photo of Elizabeth and her bridesmaids is one of my faves.

So many beautiful (sparkly) details.

Cute wedding details- vows, and sparkley tennis shoes.

And these sparkly shoes b/c post-wedding dancing SHOULD be taken very seriously!

Cute ringbearer holding romantic bridal bouquet

Little man stole my signature move, but I won’t hold it again him.

Cute aisle decor and bud vase details at a romantic DTLA Library wedding.

More sweet things.

Mom walking bride down the aisle.

And maybe THE sweetest thing. I love when I get to know my couples’ family and it was so much fun to have Elizabeth’s mom and sister join us on their flower market tour during the design process.

Blush + gold bridesmaids with garden fresh bridesmaids bouquets.

The lineup.

First kiss between a curly willow arch at Cafe Pintot, DTLA

Beautiful desert table with cake, cake pops, and fresh flowers.

Library card catalog seating cards for romantic DTLA Library wedding.

I had a lot of fun creating this library card catalog seating card set-up- Elizabeth & Trevor chose a different movie quote for every single guest!

Romantic DTLA Library Wedding with centerpieces featuring garden roses, vintage books and film reel table names.

They combined their love of books with movies and so I created these custom film reel table names to help guests find their seat.

Tabletop details including fresh herb sprigs, garden roses, and film reel table names.
