Colorful Floral Clouds & Bold Ombre Blooms

Bright and bold dyed babies breath clouds by Winston & Main hang over long table at colorful LA birthday celebration.

I’m always so flattered when other vendors or industry peeps hire Winston & Main to bring the blooms ESPECIALLY when they give me the creative freedom to really go for it.

That’s the dream.

So when David of La Pinata Party Rentals reached out about creating something extra special for his *extra special* birthday party this ombre floral fluff dream became reality.

All 21 feet of it. Floral foam free + 100% reclaimed post event too.

Yellow and Orange Ombre Floral Designs featuring Dahlias, Butterfly Ranunculus, Bunny Tails and more by Winston & Main.

Light it up! I designed the entire table in an ombre, florals + tapers too- moving from yellow to peach to orange to pink to red to blue to purple. SO much fun. SO many tapers.

Pink and red floral design ombre featuring double tulips, dahlias, and painted italian ruscus by Winston & Main.

The pink & red arrangement may have been my favorite because the double tulips were RIDICULOUS for October.

Blue and purple ombre floral design featuring carnations, tulips, strawflowers, dahlias and more dyed and painted flowers by Winston & Main.

Although, blue & purple are definitely the winner for being MOST on trend- Pantone named Classic Blue as it’s Color of the Year shortly after this.

The guest of honor wears a luxe blue velvet dinner jacket and is standing under 21 feet of bold and colorful floral clouds.

Talk about an incredible host- David treated his guests to a welcome bar, an epically colorful + delicious dinner catered by Hungry Bear Catering Co., a Xylophone Band AND a post-dinner surprise arcade reveal. YES, an entire arcade. Host AND birthday goals.

The velvet tux wasn’t a bad touch either.

This color combo was the most challenging for me, but I was so happy with the way it turned out. Also, #carnationsforever.

DRINKING WITH CHICKENS

Backyard chickens frolicking in lush floral table garland

This is the strike crew of my dreams y’all. It might also be IS the booze + lovely lady + flower + chicken-filled party of my dreams. For sure. I first discovered Kate and her amazing blog/Instagram, Drinking with Chickens, last year when I wrote this article on Apartment Therapy.

We started chatting on IG and godblesstheinternet here I am creating some flower magic in her backyard a year later. She also took that amazing photo up there.

Gorgeous cottage garden paths lined with purple flowers

Kate’s garden is ridiculous. Like fairy-tale levels of perfection #gardengoals ridiculous. And I was so lucky she agreed that I could bring along my pal Victoria Gold Photography to snag some fancy florist shots. AKA, the kind, at big events, I’m usually too sweaty/busy to ever take, let alone look at, or post again.

Just hanging with my snips and some big ol’ fried egg peonies in the garden. Like ya do.

Winston and Main's Tabitha Abercrombie holding a polish chicken wearing a flower necklace

Victoria took a bunch of florist glamour shots of me in the garden, and we did things like torture poor Pip with a flower corsage necklace. He loved it. Obviously.

So calm. So not sweaty. Just jeuging up a flower-filled table in the garden, like ya do.

Winston & Main "Adorn Yourself" acrylic sign and modern brass wrist corsages

We’ve been making these modern brass wrist corsages for our wedding clients for a while now, and just love them! See also: we love making acrylic signs! And…No more 80’s prom arms, I mean, unless you’re having an 80’s prom wedding in which case- call me! 🙂

Modern Floral Jewelry, fresh flowers on brass cuffs for a modern wedding corsage

I just love love love these little pieces of floral jewelry, because each one is totally unique. It was really fun to watch guests select the one that spoke to them.

Did I mention that I LOVE attending parties that I’ve floralized? I am consistently humbled + awed by the effect beautiful flowers have on people and feel so lucky when I get to see my #flowermagic in action.

A colorful and bohemian garden party, afternoon tea, or wedding tablescape

Are you ready for flower porn on a whole different scale though?

And a different angle. That garland though. She’s extra.

Fun fact: Kristin and I met at Alt Summit waaaaaay back in 2012 and reconnected at this lil’ shindig! Again, godblesstheinternet!

More. More. More.

Koval bottles with flower adornments

Leave no surface or booze bottle unflowered. That’s what we say. After all, Kate’s blog is called Drinking with Chickens. And Koval did put the “booze” in the Boozy Garden Tea Party. And it was delicious!

Okay, maybe just one more tablescape. Is it weird that I wanna climb on that table and roll around in the flowers?

Well, maybe I’m just a little weird. 🙂

Creative Update 1: Modern Geometry

geonumbersstyle

I am on the brink of a new (big, huge, terrifying, moreinfocomingsoon) creative/work decision, and so while my head is swimming with ideas and projects and goals and all these other not-quite-ready to actualize plans, I’ve decided I need a tangible and immediate creative outlet.

So, I am going to execute one personal creative project per week from start to finish, and share the results here- process, progress, pictures. Whatever. Just so long as it gets done.

I started a few weeks ago (and I started small).

But since then it’s been a whirlwind of creative activity here at the corner of Winston and Main.
And it feels good. Really good. The more creative projects I actually execute from start to finish (as opposed to the lists and piles of unfinished projects that tend to infiltrate and stagnate my creative life), the more creative and motivated I feel to make more.

And the closer my weekly projects are coming to aligning with all those not-quite-ready to actualize plans I mentioned up there. Funny how that works, huh?

These table numbers are part of my DIY column over on Broke-Ass Bride and I have to say I’m pretty pleased with them. They’re bright, fun, and free-standing, and would add a perfect pop of color to any modern table.

They were the perfect petite jumping off point, and I’m positively thrilled with my continuing geometric endeavors. In fact, I’ve turned into a total math nerd over here and am churning out more geometric art/decor than I know what to do with….

Apparently bright paint + unfinished wood makes me happy.
And that little piñata.
Could that thing be any more adorable?
And have you also found creativity to be cumulative?
